Simple SurgerySimple Surgery

Free forever

Run it yourself, at no cost.

The template is open source. There is no trial, no seat limit and nothing held back. The version we deploy for paying practices is the same one you can clone.

The editor demo is the admin panel you get either way. Self-hosting changes who pays the hosting bill, not what your staff see when they log in.

Prefer a proper walkthrough?

The five steps below are the summary. The full guide covers every command, every environment variable and the DNS records to send your IT team, written for someone who is comfortable with a terminal but is not a developer.

How it works

  1. 1

    Clone the repository

Fork it on GitHub, or clone it straight down. The code is MIT licensed, so it is yours to keep, change and even sell.

  2. 2

    Deploy it

One click to Vercel, Netlify or Cloudflare. A practice site fits comfortably inside every free tier.

  3. 3

    Add two settings

A password for your admin panel, and a free Upstash Redis database so your edits are saved. Both take about two minutes.

  4. 4

    Fill in your details

Sign in at /admin and work through the sections. Everything is already written to NHS England guidance, so you are mostly replacing names and numbers.

  5. 5

    Point your domain at it

Your existing nhs.uk address keeps working. Nothing changes for patients.

Full setup notes, the environment variable list and the storage options are in the repository README.
